How do I change the launcher on my Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi TV Stick?
Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi TV Stick runs Android TV, so the HOME button is wired to the stock home screen (com.google.android.tvlauncher) and no launcher picker ever appears. The fix is the same as on every Android TV device — set your launcher as the real home app over the box's own debugging connection — and this page has the parts that are specific to this device: where its Developer options hide, and what to watch for.
Developer options on Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi TV Stick
- Open the About screenSettings › Device Preferences › About, then scroll to “Build”.
- Press OK on the build seven timesThe TV counts down, then says you are a developer. A new “Developer options” item appears in the settings.
- Turn on debuggingDeveloper options › USB debugging. On Android 11 and newer there is also Wireless debugging with a pairing code; on most boxes Network debugging over port 5555 is the convenient one.
What to watch for on this device: age and storage speed. Many Mi Boxes run an older Android TV, where the launcher's own accessibility switch still works — until a force-stop or an update drops it, which is why the ADB route is worth doing even here. Slow internal storage also means the Speed up task pays off.
Then: the same three routes as everywhere
From here this device is ordinary Android TV: the free TV Launcher Manager finds it on the network (or over USB in Chrome), lists every launcher it has, sets your pick as HOME and records the undo. By hand, the stock package to disable is com.google.android.tvlauncher — and pm enable brings it back.
